Summer Filming Guide

We have reached the mid-way point of summer, and we thought an update on what’s happening in the film & television industry would be good.  So we’ve put together this Summer filming guide, and we’re happy to report that there’s a lot going on, which is such a wonderful thing to hear after the winter freeze out.  Vancouver has seen a resurgence of projects, Toronto is still growing and thriving, and Los Angeles is steaming ahead.  There have been old series renewed, new series begun and major feature films beginning.

Because we all love lists, here are a few to browse through.  Each list is what is currently filming, or very soon filming, in the respective areas.  These are not complete or official lists.

Filming Guide

Vancouver:

-TV pilot Rita

-Major motion picture Godzilla wraps up shooting

Once Upon a Time and the new spinoff Once Upon a Time in Wonderland

-New series created by M. Night Shyamalan entitled Wayward Pines

-The new seasons of Psych, Continuum, The Killing, and Cedar Cove are all back for more

-The highly anticipated Tim Burton feature Big Eyes starring Amy Adams and Christoph Waltz has begun filming

-TV series Witches of East End, Motive, Bates MotelSupernatural and The Tomorrow People

-The indie feature starring Michael Eklund entitled Eadwear

The George Clooney, Hugh Laurie feature Tomorrowland directed by Brad Bird

-Also to film soon are the TV series Arrow, The 100, and Rogue

Los Angeles:

-Funny family comedy Parenthood

-Popular crime drama NCIS: LA

-Exciting suspense series Revenge

-Funny crime solving series Castle is already well into its new season

-Feature films include Flock of DudesThe Midnighters and the Danny Trejo film Bullet

-More TV series filming are The League, Lost Angels, Ironside, The Numbers Game, Sons of Anarchy

-Other projects filming are The Help Desk, Getting On, AKAHoly Grail, Hormonal, Carver the Chase, My Kind of Love, The ExGetting on, AKA, The Ex-7, Seasick, Dimes, Leonard, The Unlikely Candidates, Untitled Scary Show, and AMMO

Filming Guide

Toronto:

-Robert Pattison and David Cronenberg team up once more for feature Map to the Stars

-Supernatural series Beauty and the Beast goes into season 2, while new series Bitten and Cracked are getting started

-Sexy crime drama Covert Affairs continues, as well as Nikita, Lost Girl and Syfy series Defiance

-Finding talent series Next Star and spinoff Next Star: Super Group continue as well as Battle of the Blades and The Next Step Season 2

-Other TV series include Annedroids, Degrassi, Lucky 7, Saving Hope, Played, Reign, Satisfaction, Spun Out, Suits

-Feature film No Stranger than Love starring Justin Chatwin and Alison Brie is also filming

-Other projects include Cache Craze 2, Horizon, HH2, How to Build a Better Boy, Night Cries, Sorority Surrogate, Sound Machine, and Still Light

It’s always awesome to be able to report good news in this industry.  The summer has been a flurry of activity, and although we’re still not seeing all of our former glory returned, it certainly is a step in the right direction.
