East of Main Cafe Opens!

East of Main Cafe

We previously posted how proud we were to be official sponsors of Project Limelight, the free theatre program for kids who are driven to perform.  The smashing success of the production of “Wonderland” was just the start of Project Limelight’s success.  Now, the East of Main Cafe has officially opened!

Trying to create a more sustainable form of fundraising for Project Limelight, local casting director Maureen Webb and her sister Donalda Weaver came up with the idea of opening a business whose profits would directly fund Project Limelight.  In an interview with the Vancouver Courier, Maureen explains “we asked ourselves what type of social enterprise could help sustain Project Limelight, provide food and security to the participants and generate a buzz about the charity.  East of Main was born.”

Since opening their doors in November, East of Main has been featured in numerous Vancouver publications including Vancouver Food Tour and the Georgia Straight.  They were also included in this years Eastside Culture Crawl.

We are extremely proud of their success and hope to take part in and experience their ongoing efforts for Project Limelight.  Be sure to visit the websites for both East of Main and Project Limelight.
